Many so-called voices for women’s rights in the western world confine their support of Iranian women to assert the right to remove their headscarves, in defiance of the tyranny of the fascistic Ayatollahs.
So far so good, but this obviously suits western lifestyles…because women without headscarves ‘look like us’.
Women also have the right to wear a headscarf, if they so choose.
Where are the same voices when women are banned from wearing the hijab in France and the so-called ‘secular’ west?
Where are these voices when Israeli settlers and soldiers harass and forcefully remove the hijabs of Palestinian women?
Western hypocrisy won’t help women in the Middle East.
